Implant-Retained Denture or Overdenture
The special abutment used to retain the denture has a “male connector,” which is part of the abutment attached to the implant.
These connectors come in various forms, such as:
– **STUD** (low-profile base)
– **Ball attachment** (sphere-shaped)
– **Magnetic**
The “female connector” is the part attached to the removable denture.
My preferred type is the **Stud** or low-profile base because it is easy to clean, simple to maintain, and provides a strong, secure fit.
When the denture is placed, the male and female connectors lock perfectly, ensuring the denture is stable and capable of handling chewing forces.
This allows patients to comfortably eat hard and chewy foods.
– This case uses **Neodent Acqua implants**.
– The Stud attachment for this brand is called **Novaloc**, featuring a carbon-based abutment coating (ADLC1), which increases wear resistance and durability.
